Job summary

Gallagher Re is offering a 24-month REACH program to train and develop graduates and career changers into Catastrophe Risk Analysts. The program combines in‑office and remote training days with direct access to senior leadership and mentors.

You will gain hands-on experience in reinsurance analytics, data modeling, and risk management while pursuing professional designations such as the ARe. The role is full-time with a hybrid schedule, starting in July 2027 or earlier based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Business Analytics, Data Science, Risk Management).
  • Advanced Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, macros, conditional formatting, statistics.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication to engage with clients and colleagues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel to Rolling Meadows, IL for training (travel expenses covered).
  • Nice-to-haves: SQL, VBA, R; internship/related experience; curiosity about reinsurance industry.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to audit, enhance, and model insurance company data sets.
  • Explain model outputs and prepare compelling written reports to communicate complex concepts.
  • Present analysis summaries to clients and internal teams to inform future strategies.
  • Provide real-time event response and analysis of catastrophic events for client protection.

This is a 24-month structured learning and development program that will equip upcoming and recent college graduates, as well as career changers, with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the world of reinsurance broking and risk management. Through this opportunity, you will gain direct access to our esteemed Executive Team and an extensive network of supportive mentors, inspiring trainers, and talented colleagues. Get ready for an experience where guidance and collaboration pave the way to success. All hours spent in training are hours worked and are paid competitively. This is a full-time role with a hybrid work schedule. You will have in-office days and remote days determined by the location.

How you’ll make an impact

Responsibilities

From natural catastrophes to cyber or political risks, you will play a pivotal role in protecting our clients’ assets and helping them navigate complex risks with confidence. By immersing yourself in sophisticated analytics, you will provide invaluable insights, innovative risk transfer strategies, and operational expertise, enabling our clients to maintain strong financial positions to cover claims for their policyholders when disasters strike.

Every day presents new challenges, ensuring your work remains dynamic and engaging. As a program participant, you will:

  • Collaborate with clients to appropriately audit, enhance, and model insurance company data sets
  • Master the art of explaining model outputs and preparing compelling written reports, effectively communicating complex concepts
  • Showcase your expertise by presenting analysis summaries to internal and external clients, igniting impactful discussions and crafting future strategies
  • Provide real-time event response and analysis of catastrophic events, empowering insurance companies to protect their policyholders
  • Dive into vast data sets, uncovering insights and developing potential solutions to address risk challenges head-on

In addition, you will participate in web-based and in-person seminars to expand your industry knowledge and work towards attaining your ARe (Associate in Reinsurance) designation within 18 months of your hire date along with other necessary licenses.

As your experience and expertise grow, you will play a meaningful role in helping clients navigate challenges and find coverage solutions that align with their budgets. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting clients during unexpected losses, ensuring their businesses continue to thrive.

About You

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, i.e. Business Analytics, Business Statistics, Data Science, Earth Science, Geography, Topography, Risk Management, etc.
  • Advanced Excel skills, i.e. creating formulas, pivot tables, macros, conditional formatting, and statistical modeling
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with clients and colleagues
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and keen attention to detail
  • Flexibility to travel to our home office in Rolling Meadows, IL, five (5) different times for training. Rest assured, all travel expenses will be covered by Gallagher Re

Nice‑to‑Haves:

  • Computer programming skills, e.g. SQL, VBA, R
  • Previous internship or work experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of or curiosity about the reinsurance broking and risk management industry
