Job summary

CSAA Insurance Group (CSAA IG) is hiring a Casualty Evaluator to join our remote-friendly claims team. The role focuses on owning simple to moderate auto liability cases and related injury exposures, with authority up to $50,000, across multiple states while staying compliant with company policies.

You will work in a virtual environment with flexible remote options, handling written, phone, and email communications and supporting small claims and catastrophe-related duties when needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of claims experience or related professional work.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

We are actively hiring for a Casualty Specialist Evaluator - Remote

Your Role:

Assigned as owning adjuster when injury exposure is identified. Handles both represented and unrepresented first and third-party cases appropriate for resolution with an independent settlement limit of up to $50,000. Handles claims in multiple states including licensed states and statutory states (OK license required). Handles Homeowner liability low complexity property damage claims. Supports the claims organization by handling Small Claims related matters to conclusion. When necessary, may own claims of low complexity when supporting catastrophes. May handle first party non-liability-based injury claim (Medical Payment and PIP)

Your Work:
  • Working in a virtual environment (with option to work in an office setting)
  • Ability to manage communications in writing, by telephone and by electronic means (e.g., e-mail)
  • Assigned as Owning/Adjuster when injury exposure is identified.
  • Handles mostly simple to moderate 1st and 3rd party auto liability cases involving injury with unrepresented and attorney-represented claimants.
  • May handle 1st party Medical payment and PIP.
  • May assists in catastrophes related activities including handling simple homeowner losses.
  • Responsible for handling, managing, investigating, negotiating, settling and/or resolving injury claims with exposure valued less than $50,000.
  • Adjuster to manage productivity by seeking claim assignments through designated queues in the claim system.
  • Triage is self-managed and not automated in the claims system.
  • Making coverage determinations and advising customers as to proper course of action related to coverage issues.
  • Conducting investigative work of a complex nature (interviewing witnesses; obtaining and analyzing evidence, including medical records; deciding whether an independent medical examination is warranted; etc.).
  • On rare occasions, may require representing the insured and/or the company at settlement conferences.
  • On rare occasions, may require appearing at and representing the insureds at arbitrations and trials.
  • On rare occasions, may require testimony in a deposition setting.
  • Evaluating potential for subrogation and initiating initial notice of subrogation request.
  • Making final decisions to settle within settlement authority, without supervisory approval, and developing negotiating strategies.
  • Presenting cases in Committee setting when seeking above settlement authority level; thereafter, independently negotiating and settling the claim.
Required Experience, Education and Skills
  • High school diploma or a combination of education and 2+ directly relevant work experience.
  • 2 years of related professional experience
  • 2 years of claims experience
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Strong ability to work independently.
  • Strong decision making ability.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Basic math and computer skills and ability to type 30 wpm.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills and good command of the English language.
  • Ability to function in a team environment.
  • Ability to successfully complete training courses pertinent to job duties.
  • Developing understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Developing understanding of AAA claims policies and procedures preferred.
  • Ability to travel on rare occasions.
  • Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends.
Preferred
  • 1+ years casualty experience
  • BA/BS in business, insurance or related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The national average salary range for this position is $62,460.00-$69,400.00. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on work location. The starting pay range for this position across all the states we hire in is $62,460.00-$83,400.00. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 7% of eligible pay.
