Job description

Part-Time Recording Engineer (On-Call)

West Liberty University is seeking applications for a Part‑time, on‑call Recording Engineer to work in the Department of Music & Theatre recording studio on a temporary contractual basis. Candidates must submit a resume and at least one letter of recommendation. Experience with Pro Tools software is required. Successful candidates will undergo a studio orientation before their first session.

Essential Functions

• Run every aspect of assigned recording sessions following all studio, department, and university procedures.
• Perform audio recording, tracking, signal processing, mixing, and mastering as needed.

Education & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor of Music degree in Music Technology from WLU, a bachelor’s degree in audio engineering or similar from another university, or significant professional experience as determined by WLU music technology faculty after interview.

Skills & Abilities

• Proficiency with ProTools software.
• Knowledge and care of microphones and related equipment.
• Proper use and maintenance of all studio equipment (cables, patchbays, preamps, direct boxes, computers, monitors, displays, hard drives, instruments).
• Preferred: Mixing and post‑production expertise.
