Job summary

UPMC Rx Partners in Pittsburgh is seeking a casual Pharmacist to join the team. Pharmacists are responsible for safe, effective pharmacotherapy and participate in medication-use systems to ensure optimal therapy.

The role includes precepting students and residents and supporting quality initiatives within pharmacy services. The position involves interpreting orders, maintaining formulary, supervising staff, and collaborating with physicians and nurses to clarify orders and ensure regulatory

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy.
• B.S in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
• Current licensure as a Pharmacist in practicing state.
• Entry Level - no previous experience required; pharmacist experience preferred.
• Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Pharmacist, Act 34.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and evaluate physician orders and prescriptions to prepare, calculate, and dispense appropriate medication dosage forms for inpatient and outpatient treatment in accordance with regulations.
• Identify and report suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner.
• Sustain the formulary by minimizing non-formulary procurements and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
• Review patient medication records for allergies and interactions and verify medications.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and other staff involved in pharmaceutical care.
• Adhere to regulatory requirements and hospital quality management policies.
• Communicate with physicians and nurses for order clarification and education.
• Provide drug information and educational programs to healthcare professionals and students.
• Utilize computer systems to provide pharmaceutical care.
• Fill prescription orders in accordance with regulations and use of resources.
