Job summary

Magna International is seeking a Casting Quality Technician to audit and document K3 Casting processes and parts to customer standards. You will approve or stop production based on findings, perform a range of mechanical and X-ray tests, and help maintain quality through thorough reporting and escalation.

The role requires hands-on experience with precision measurement, metallurgy testing, and data-driven problem solving.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
• Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of precision measuring tools including tape measures, scales, vernier calipers, etc.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook Express.
• PDCA/8D/5 why knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

• Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
• Audit and document casting parts and processes to meet customer expectations.
• Perform incoming inspection testing on ingot shipments (chemistry spectrograph) and report results to Quality Leadership.
• Perform metal chemistry and density testing and material pulls (spectrograph and density scale).
• Perform X-ray testing (radiograph) and blister test (X-ray, blister oven, heat treat part review).
• Perform sample prep for mechanical properties (prepare parts for heat treat, collect parts, cut, mill, identify test pieces).
• Perform all mechanical property tests (tensile, bend/punch rivet, micro review).
• Escalate non-conforming conditions and report findings.
• Interface with engineering and quality leadership to resolve quality concerns.
• Travel to customer/vendor sites for rework/sort as needed.
