Job summary

Vallarta Supermarkets is seeking friendly, service-oriented associates to provide exceptional customer experiences at the check stand. You will operate the register, balance the till, bag groceries, stock the front end, and uphold safety and accuracy standards.

Key responsibilities include greeting customers, following Vallarta's six steps of service, maintaining knowledge of produce codes, and adhering to WIC/EBT rules and company policies.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and friendly demeanor.
• Ability to count and perform simple math accurately.
• Ability to identify and differentiate produce items and codes.
• Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must successfully complete Vallarta Supermarkets Cashier Training Program.

Responsibilities

• Operate cash register systems accurately and follow money handling procedures.
• Balance the cash drawer at the start and end of shifts.
• Bag groceries according to Vallarta procedures and customer requests.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the front end.
• Follow store rules, policies, and safety guidelines.
• Provide carry-out assistance for large orders.

About the Role

The Cashier provides extraordinary customer service through speedy andaccuraterecording of merchandise at the check stand. This roleoperatesthe cash register, balances the till, baggroceries, stocks merchandise, and helps keep the front-end area clean and organized. Cashiers ensure every customer interaction is positive while following Vallarta’s standards for accuracy, safety, and service.

Smile and greet all customers and team members while using Vallarta’s six steps of extraordinary service.

Operate cash register systems accurately and follow all money handling procedures.

Balance the cash drawer at the start and end of shifts within companytimeframes.

Keep the check stand clean, organized, and free ofclutter,store personal items in lockers.

Maintain knowledge of allproducecodes;walktheproducedepartment at the start of each shift.

Follow rules for WIC, EBT, alcohol, and tobacco sales according to state and company policies.

Bag groceries according to Vallarta procedures and customers’ requests.

Watch for and properly handle items stored at the bottom ofcarts.

Respond to customer requests; call for managementassistancewhen needed.

Offer carry-outassistancefor large or heavy orders.

Follow dress code, grooming, jewelry, and nail policies.

Maintain safety and housekeeping standardsatthe front end.

Treat coworkers and customers respectfullyat all times.

Abide by all store rules, company policies, and Employee Handbook.

Take rest and meal breaks per company guidelines.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Stand and walk constantly (6–8+ hours/day).

Frequently bend neck/waist, twist, and reach above/below shoulders.

Frequent hand use for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.

Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.frequently, up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

Heaviest itemrequiredto carry: 27 lbs. (case of water), carried up to 3 feet.

All pallets must be pulled/pushed by two people using manual pallet jacks.

No driving, heavy machinery, uneven ground, or exposure to noise/fumesrequired.
