Job summary

Goodwill Auburn is seeking a part-time cashier to operate cash registers, assist customers, and maintain stock on the sales floor. Position requires strong customer service skills, adherence to cash handling policies, and the ability to work as part of a team.

The role involves stocking shelves, answering inquiries, and ensuring a clean, safe store environment. A GED or high school diploma and 1–3 months of related experience are preferred.

Hourly Rate: $17.13 per hour

Position Summary: Responsible for the operation of cash registers, providing customer service, and maintaining shelf stock.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Cashier responsibilities include the following and other duties as assigned:

• Operation of cash registers
• Maintaining shelf stock; stocking the sales floor as needed and directed by store management
• Answering phone inquiries
• Maintain a safe/clean and well-merchandised store

Customer Service

• Provide excellent customer service to a variety of customers.
• Follow Goodwill's cash handling policies and company procedures.

Achieve Store Goals

• Willing to be a team player in order to accomplish competitive deadlines and goals.

Requirements

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 1-3 months of related experience and/or training

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret hard data and metrics. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and average. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra when working on spreadsheets. Ability to create and manage departmental budget.

Computer Skills: Ability to navigate through multiple program screens and easily use a computer, keyboard, mouse, 10-key and touchscreen.

Other Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of a Cashier.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Not required for this position.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Will constantly lift 1-15 pounds, frequently lift 15-20 pounds, and occasionally up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
