Job summary

Goodwill of Monocacy Valley in Maryland is seeking a Store Clerk to operate registers, assist customers, and help maintain a clean, organized sales floor at 6300 Georgetown Blvd, Sykesville. The role involves handling payments, stocking merchandise, and engaging customers to support sales and donations.

A positive attitude and reliability are essential. Minimum HS education or equivalent, strong math and English skills, and the ability to pass background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent experience.
• Excellent customer service skills are required.
• Math skills preferred for handling cash and transactions.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written.
• Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Performs Point of Sale (POS) responsibilities and processes all forms of payments.
• Asks each customer for cash donations at POS.
• Establishes or identifies prices of goods and merchandise.
• Completes closing procedures as necessary.
• Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.
• Greets customers and thanks customers entering or leaving the store.
• Maintains sales floor by following floorwork standards.
• Stocks merchandise in designated areas.
• Uses phones and paging systems for announcements.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment.

Position Description

Works as a member of the store team to lead an excellent customer and brand experience, and promote sales for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities. Responsible for running registers as well as working to maintain sales floor standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs Point of Sale (POS) responsibilities and processes all forms of payments.
• Asks each customer for cash donations at POS.
• Establishes or identifies prices of goods via the type of merchandise, identifying markings, or asking for help from an on-site leader.
• Completes closing procedures, as necessary.
• Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.
• Greets customers that enter in the store and thanks customers leaving the establishment.
• Maintains sales floor by following floorwork and PPM (picture process map) standards.
• Stocks merchandise in appropriate area as assigned.
• Utilizes systems, including phones and paging systems to make regularly scheduled announcements.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment.
• Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.
• Models Goodwill Core Values - Trust, Collaboration, Engagement, Ownership, and Innovation.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned.

• Must be at least 16 years of age or older
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position
