Cashier
Responsible for efficient expediting of customer sales transactions at the front registers, maintaining proper control of cash, ensuring customer satisfaction, and safeguarding company assets. Assists customers as needed and maintains a friendly, energetic demeanor.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Walk the store prior to each shift to ensure awareness of promotional and sale items; perform produce walk and weekly testing.
- Compute bill, itemized lists, and tickets showing amount due.
- Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, gift cards, or automatic debits.
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, rain checks or change due to customers.
- Operate cash register by passing price coded items across electronic scanner to record price, enter PLU or UPC manually, compile printed list, and display cost of customer purchase, tax, and rebates on monitor screen.
- Greet customers entering store and respond promptly to customer needs.
- Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas and ensure no personnel items are in the area.
- Issue coupons and rain checks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalency degree.
- Preferred 1–2 years grocery retail experience in front‑end department processes and procedures.
- Previous experience in a natural foods industry is a plus.

Wages
$15.00 – $16.50 per hour. Salaries may be adjusted in accordance with Fresh Thyme Market plan policy and are at or above the legal wage requirement for the location.
