Job summary

Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital in Mililani Town, HI is seeking a part-time Cashier in the Front End to deliver friendly customer service and operate the cash register during daily transactions.

You will greet customers, assist with ringing and weighing items, bag groceries, verify payments, balance the register, and maintain a clean, organized checkout area. High school diploma required; 18 years or older to ring up transactions.

Job Title: Cashier

Report to: Front End Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides customer service to our customers, while operating cash register to ring up various items in exchange for currency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (responsibilities include, but are not limited to):

- Greets customers when within ten feet and four seconds of contact, by name if possible, during transactions

- Assists customers while ringing up/weighing items for purchase

- Bags like groceries together, while using the least number of bags

- Checks for bottom of the basket

- Verify/balance register till at the beginning and end of shift

- Accept/Verify/Process payment from customer in the form of cash, credit, debit, ebt, and check

- Verify/Process WIC checks, purchase orders, merchandise certificates and coupons

- Check identification for tobacco and liquor purchases, as well as payment by credit card and check by following established company procedures

- Register accuracy, knows/ carries out proper register procedures to meet company performance standards, price integrity

- Refills bag wells in front end, keep workstation clean and organized by dusting, wiping, and sweeping area.

- Performs duties of a courtesy clerk

- Performs other related duties as needed as assigned by manager

OTHER DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Use proper safety procedures

- Able to listen to directions and follow through independently

- Good communication and observation skills

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION :

- High school / Secondary school diploma or GED

- Must be 18 years of age to ring register per company policy

SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

- Working with the public

- Basic mathematical knowledge and cash handling experience preferred

- Working knowledge of produce codes required, while able to differentiate between different produce products

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- Air condition while in store, subject to outside conditions of heat, rain, and wind while retrieving wagons/helping customers to their car, and chill temperatures if products need to be retrieved from chill

- Very fast paced
