Job summary

Job SummaryIncreases customer confidence and loyalty by providing accurate, fast and courteous customer checkout. This individual effectively scans, packages and receives payment for customer purchases and expedites the flow of groceries through the checkout lane. Maintains financial responsibility in his/her service lane.

Listen to and appropriately escalates customer concerns to management with a positive attitude. Stocks front end products; restocks and uses supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost. Manage lane according to service standards. Assist in training new cashiers.

Uses the Point of Sale (POS) system, and handles various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, Reward offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy to record sales. Understands and adheres to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work honestly and effectively to control loss adheres to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, etc.).

Assists customers in unloading purchases onto the conveyor belt at the checkout. Packs customer purchases in a manner to prevent damages, carry or push groceries in a shopping cart to the customer¿s car and load groceries into the vehicle. Checks the price of merchandise in all departments, as needed.

Collects shopping carts from parking lot and other areas and return to designated area.
