Job summary

Homeland Stores in Oklahoma City is seeking a part-time Retail Store Associate to greet customers, ring up purchases, and provide friendly service in a fast-paced environment.

You will operate electronic cash registers, scanners and scales, assist customers, bag items, and follow store procedures for coupons and payments. Basic math and a high school diploma are required, with standing for 4 hours and adherence to safety rules.

Qualifications

Primary responsibilities

• Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely
• Process customer purchases quickly and accurately using an electronic cash register, scanner and scale
• Clean register area by sweeping floors, cleaning check lanes, registers and scales
• Prevent loss of money and merchandise by careful product handling, completing price checks, correct identification of produce, counting money, and accurately following store procedures for acceptance of coupons, WIC and other vouchers, checks, credit and debit cards
• Assure safety of self, customers and co‑workers by understanding and practicing store safety rules and notifying a supervisor of potential hazards immediately
• Bag customer purchases quickly and correctly
• Understand the operation, safety requirements and restraints of an electronic cash register, scanner, scale and intercom system
• Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisors and managers, substitute for absent workers and perform any additional tasks necessary to provide products and services to customers

Qualifications

• Above and Beyond Customer Service
• Basic Mathematics (Add, subtract, multiply, divide)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Prior experience in related field or industry

Specific tasks

• Standing capability, 4 hours minimum
• Move a maximum of 40 lbs. from 6 inches to 48 inches
• Move a maximum of 40 lbs. up to 15 feet
• Pick up items from floor/case/shelf/cart
• Retrieve merchandise on the top of grocery shelves, approximately 84 inches from the floor
• Bend and twist at the waist while cleaning, moving/removing merchandise and loading/unloading merchandise

Work Environment

Inside work with transitions of heat/cold/humidity/dust from opening of store entrance/exit doors.
