Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.
2. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
3. Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
4. Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages, working honestly to control loss.
5. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
7. Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
8. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
9. Comply with food safety regulations and guidelines.
10. Reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
11. Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
12. Create a welcoming environment by answering questions about products.
13. Follow all laws and company guidelines.
14. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
15. Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.
16. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
17. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
18. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
19. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Customer service experience
• Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
