Job summary

Douglas County Health Center in Omaha is seeking an Accounts Receivable Clerk to perform cashiering, petty cash handling and receivable processing under the Accounts Receivable Manager. The role requires accuracy in cash handling and reconciliation, with familiarity in health records systems for balance reporting.

Time will be spent maintaining security of cash drawers, preparing deposits, and coordinating with armored services.

Qualifications

Job description

Incumbent works under the direction of the Accounts Receivable Manager or designee, performing cashiering, petty cash, and other receivable processing functions for Douglas County Health Center (DCHC).

Compensation: $20.16 - $27.26/Hour

Essential Functions

Process various financial transactions (e.g., cash, checks, credit cards, ACH payments) issuing receipts and authorized refunds. Establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public. Comply with Civil Service Rules, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment. Manage petty cash operations and resident trust transactions (e.g., deposits, withdrawals, transfers) in accordance with established institutional policies. Maintain financial records, tracking deposits and checks and monitoring disbursements from various accounts. Perform cash register reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies. Coordinate financial requirements and approvals for resident outings, preparing cash withdrawals and reconciling returned funds and receipts. Oversee the security and replenishment of cash drawers, ensuring availability of funds for standards operations and resident requests. Facilitate secure deposit processes, preparing document for the County Treasurer and coordinating with armored car services. Utilize electronic health records or practice management systems to identify account balances, compile necessary reports (e.g., resident trust statements). Serve on committees. Maintain job knowledge and skills (e.g., research, meetings, webinars, seminars, continuing education). Safely operate a motor vehicle when required to travel on County business. Report to work with regular, consistent attendance. Perform other duties as assigned and directed.

Education and Work Experience and Other Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year of accounting/bookkeeping experience required.
  • One (1) year of MSOffice or Google Docs experience required.
  • Type/keyboard 40 net words per minute required.
  • Valid driver’s license upon hire and maintained throughout employment required.
  • Completion of pre-employment criminal record check and conditional offer drug screen required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted for requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close, distance and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbent must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
