Job summary

Kroger in North Myrtle Beach, SC is seeking a friendly Cashier/Checker to create an outstanding customer experience. You will greet customers, process transactions at the check lane quickly and accurately, and help maintain a safe, clean store environment.

You will handle POS system duties, manage cash and other tenders, follow store policies, stay aware of ads and promotions, and support customers through questions about products while upholding Kroger's values of respect and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers at the check lane.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Operate the POS system and handle tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons) according to policy.
• Adhere to cash handling, shortage/overage limits, and loss-prevention guidelines.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator and follow store procedures.
• Stay current with ads and promotions; adhere to food safety regulations.
• Support safety programs and identify unsafe conditions, reporting to management.
• Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and escalate repairs as needed.
• Provide product information and answer questions to create a welcoming store environment.
• Follow all laws and company guidelines; manage conflicts calmly and professionally.
• Assist minors, people with special needs, and older adults as needed.
• Perform the essential functions of the role with or without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Cashier/Checker is responsible for being visible and actively greeting, engaging and assisting customers.
• Cashiers process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Checkers understand the Point of Sale (POS) system, and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy.
• Checker needs to understand and adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work honestly and effectively to control loss.
• Cashier needs to understand and adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs)
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow established policies and procedures (where applicable) for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notify store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
• Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines.
• Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment.
