Job Description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Cashier/Checker is responsible for being visible and actively greeting, engaging, and assisting customers.
2. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
3. Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
4. Adhere to company's cash shortage/overage limits and work honestly to control loss.
5. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
7. Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.

Stay current with advertisements and adhere to all food safety regulations and safety procedures. Identify unsafe conditions and notify management. Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.

Create a welcoming environment by assisting customers with questions about products. Comply with all relevant laws and company policies. Work effectively in a high-paced environment, manage conflicts professionally, and act with honesty and integrity. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. Perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Customer service experience
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
