Levy Sector in Boston is seeking a cashier at the Thomas M. Menino Convention and Exhibition Center to handle cash transactions, operate the POS system, and deliver strong guest service.

The role involves daily cash handling, understanding menu offerings, and maintaining sanitation standards in service areas. Responsibilities include greeting guests, processing payments, ensuring accurate cash reports, and supporting general food service tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Possess basic math and cash handling skills.
• Walks and stands throughout entire shift.
• Lifts and transports items weighing up to 50lbs.
• Pushes and pulls carts, racks and product weighing up to 250 lbs.
• Must frequently reach, lift, stoop and bend.
• Reads, speaks, writes and comprehends English.

Responsibilities

• Greets guests and takes and fulfills orders.
• Accepts payment via cash, credit card or vouchers and records purchases.
• Accurately uses Point of Sale (POS) system.
• Understands menus, product offerings, sides, condiments, packaging and pricing.
• Adheres to inventory control, waste, employee meals and spoilage procedures.
• Completes station setup and breakdown responsibilities, including handling cash banks and card machines.
• Maintains clean and organized work stations and service areas.
• Delivers exceptional service.
• Acts with a sense of urgency with respect to guest and event needs.

Job Summary

Performs cashiering duties, including making cash transactions, verifying cash drawer, giving change, counting cash receipts and completing cash reports. May also perform general food service work. Maintains sanitation standards in the preparation, service and dining room facilities.

Service

• Greets guests and takes and fulfills orders.
• Accepts payment via cash, credit card or voucher/tickets and accurately records purchases.
• Accurately uses Point of Sale (POS) system.
• Understands all menus, product offerings, side dishes, condiments, packaging and pricing.
• Adheres to inventory control, waste, employee meal and spoilage procedures.
• Thoroughly completes all station set-up and breakdown responsibilities, including but not limited to, obtaining and returning cash bank and credit card machine, ensuring register tape supply is adequate, and setting and returning cups at locations where required.
• Maintains clean and organized work station and service areas (to include the upkeep and replenishment of items/goods).
• Delivers exceptional service.
• Acts with a sense of urgency with respect to guest and event needs.

Controls

• Employs good safety and sanitation practices in order to prevent hazards including but not limited to, slips, trips, falls and burns, and reports injuries, unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctions to management. Contacts Public Safety in the event of emergencies.
• Follows cash handling guidelines with accuracy and timeliness.
• Adheres to company guidelines, policies and property rules.
• Follows responsible alcohol service policies.
• Thoroughly completes all responsibilities and assignments.

• Displays a positive attitude.
• Assists others when necessary and/or requested.
