Job summary

Wegmans is seeking a friendly cashier to ensure customers end their shopping trips with a positive experience. You will assist customers at traditional checkout and self-checkout lanes, providing proactive service and transforming first-time shoppers into loyal Wegmans customers.

Collective customer service experience, internally and/or externally preferably in a food service, grocery or retail setting; Experience operating a cash register; Work Environment: The physical demands of this work are classified as light to medium. Work includes repetitive hand and arm movements, lifting, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, occasional bending, frequent reaching, moving and lifting, frequent to constant turning to the left, along with continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced environment. The average weight range of items lifted is 5 – 12 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 40 pounds occasionally. Upper extremity repetition is moderately high and trunk movement involves moderately high twisting, bending, and pivoting. May receive assistance with heavy items, if available. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction). The work environment is indoors. Basic tools and equipment used include cash register, scan gun, shopping bags and bagging fixtures, and shopping carts and baskets.
