Job summary

Alerus is seeking an experienced Cash Balance Actuary to support ERISA design and client proposals. The role partners with sales to translate complex retirement plan concepts into clear recommendations and compliant funding strategies.

You will manage client relationships, oversee data review, testing, and regulatory filings, and provide internal training to sales and administration staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience as an enrolled actuary approved by the Joint Board.
• 10+ years of experience in complex defined contribution plan administration.
• Member of actuaries societies and ASPPA certification or equivalent.
• Ability to perform retirement plan compliance testing and allocations.
• Excellent communication and client service skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and communicate ERISA aspects of Cash Balance, Defined Benefit, and Defined Contribution plans.
• Produce and present projections for new business proposals based on client input.
• Explain funding strategies, PBGC/non-PBGC plans, and applicable regulations.
• Manage a book of clients, including data review, testing, valuation prep, and filings.
• Provide internal training to sales and administration staff.
