Job summary

Total Vision is seeking a Cash Accountant to manage daily cash transactions, bank reconciliations, and general ledger activities while supporting the monthly financial close. The role emphasizes cash accounting, internal controls, and reconciliation accuracy.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting and at least two years of experience, with strong Excel and ERP skills (Sage Intacct). It is an onsite role with potential overtime near month-end.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • At least two years of progressive accounting experience with bank reconciliations and GL.
  • Month-end close experience preferred.
  • Healthcare, retail, or multi-location accounting experience a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel skills: PivotTables, XLOOKUP, data analysis.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting software (Sage Intacct preferred).
  • Experience with banking portals and treasury functions is a plus.
  • Power Query and Power BI experience desired.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management.
  • Onsite 5 days per week; occasional overtime during month-end close.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cash reconciliations for multiple bank accounts.
  • Record and reconcile all cash receipts, ACH, wires, credit card deposits, and lockbox activities.
  • Investigate and resolve outstanding reconciling items promptly.
  • Monitor bank balances and assist with daily cash reporting.
  • Prepare cash-related journal entries and supporting schedules.
  • Support Positive Pay and banking administration processes.
  • Reconcile deposits from POS, card processors, lockbox, ACH, and electronic payments to GL.
  • Research discrepancies between bank statements and GL; document adjustments.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and banking partners to resolve issues.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries with supporting docs and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Analyze financial transactions and identify unusual variances.
  • Maintain GAAP-compliant accounting records and company policies.
  • Reconcile cash receipts and unapplied cash; research deposit discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with Revenue Cycle Management on cash posting issues.
  • Prepare recurring accounting reports for audits; provide documentation for reviews.
  • Assist management with ad hoc financial analyses.

General Summary

The Cash Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the company's daily cash transactions, bank reconciliations, and general ledger activities while supporting the monthly financial close. This role combines traditional Accountant responsibilities with a strong focus on cash accounting, account reconciliations, and internal controls.

Essential Functions
  • Perform daily cash reconciliations for multiple bank accounts.
  • Record and reconcile all cash receipts, ACH transactions, wire transfers, credit card deposits, and lockbox activities.
  • Investigate and resolve outstanding reconciling items promptly.
  • Monitor bank balances and assist with daily cash reporting.
  • Prepare cash-related journal entries and supporting schedules.
  • Support Positive Pay and banking administration processes.
  • Reconcile deposits from multiple payment sources, including Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, credit card processors, lockbox receipts, ACH transactions, and electronic payment platforms to the general ledger.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and the general ledger, maintaining documentation for all reconciliation adjustments.
  • Follow up with internal departments and banking partners to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries with supporting documentation and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Analyze financial transactions and identify unusual variances.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Assist with reconciling cash receipts and unapplied cash accounts and researching related deposit discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) regarding cash posting issues.
  • Prepare recurring accounting reports and supporting schedules for internal and external audits.
  • Provide supporting documentation for financial statement reviews.
  • Assist management with ad hoc financial analyses.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of two years of progressive accounting experience including performing bank reconciliations and general ledger accounting.
  • Experience with month-end close preferred.
  • Healthcare, retail, or multi-location accounting experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting software (Sage Intacct preferred).
  • Experience with banking portals and treasury functions is a plus.
  • Experience with Power Query, and Power BI desired.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • 5 days of onsite working environment, with occasional overtime required during the month-end close to meet the 7-day close deadline
