Job summary

WAYNE COUNTY NY seeks a Caseworker to deliver social work services to individuals and families, addressing economic, emotional, social and environmental challenges. Under supervision, you’ll develop and implement client plans, gather information from multiple sources, and coordinate with agencies to provide needed services.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or RN licensure in NYS, with relevant experience; engages in in-service training and close supervision to build competencies and support

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Federal, State and Local Social Services laws and programs.
• Ability to establish and maintain successful relationships with people.
• Imagination, sensitivity to the reactions of others, and good powers of observation and analysis.
• Initiative, tact, emotional maturity, and good judgment.

Responsibilities

• Formulates and carries out plans to meet the needs of individuals or families; provides counseling to motivate the client to increase capacity and confidence.
• Studies background and need for care of children; collects information from family, schools, churches, and agencies.
• Determines foster care needs and whether care should be in an institution or foster family home.
• Plans with parents and relatives for care and home re-establishment.
• Establishes relationships to encourage utilization of social services; maintains liaison with agencies.
• Identifies needs through in-depth client discussions; reviews case records; periodic reviews for changes in situations.
