Job summary

Kight Home Center in Kentucky seeks a Carter Architectural Millwork Casework Assembler to assemble woodwork components accurately and efficiently according to production schedules. The role requires reading shop drawings, measuring parts, and using hand and power tools safely.

You will prepare workstations, assemble cabinets and related components, and support quality and on-time production while following safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read shop drawings, work orders, cut lists, labels, and basic assembly details.
  • Ability to use a tape measure and verify dimensions, basic math and fractions.

Responsibilities

  • Review work orders, shop drawings, cut lists, labels, and production notes before assembly.
  • Verify parts, hardware, finishes, quantities, and drawings match the job; report missing or incorrect items before assembly.
  • Organize workstation, tools, clamps, adhesives, fasteners, and components to support safe production flow.
  • Confirm critical dimensions, grain direction, finished faces, edge treatments, and orientation before fastening or gluing parts.
  • Assemble cabinet boxes, bases, toe kicks, backs, shelves, drawers, doors, finishes, and related subassemblies.
  • Use joinery, dowels, screws, confirmat fasteners, staples, nails, adhesives, clamps, and other methods.
  • Operate drills, impact drivers, pneumatic tools, routers, sanders, and measuring devices per training and instructions.
  • Install hinges, slides, pulls, locks, shelf standards, brackets, and other hardware accurately.
  • Adjust doors, drawers, and moving components for proper alignment, reveal, clearance, and operation.
  • Complete units in production sequence and report constraints impacting quality or schedule.
  • Measure and inspect assemblies for dimensions, square, fit, alignment, finish, hardware function, and conformance.
  • Identify defective components and communicate rework needs promptly.
  • Protect completed work from damage and label accordingly.
  • Record production status and material issues in designated systems or paperwork.
  • Support downstream teams by delivering complete, clean, and correctly identified assemblies.
  • Follow safety and tool usage rules and report unsafe conditions.

Job description

A Carter Architectural Millwork Casework Assembler is responsible for assembling woodwork products accurately to ensure a quality product is produced. Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimal supervision. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary to this position.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Previous cabinet, casework, furniture, fixture, millwork, or manufacturing assembly experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read shop drawings, work orders, cut lists, labels, and basic assembly details.
  • Ability to use a tape measure and verify dimensions accurately; basic shop math and understanding of fractions are required.
  • Working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, clamps, adhesives, fasteners, and cabinet hardware is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain quality while working to production schedules.
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and able to communicate problems before they affect downstream operations
Responsibilities of the Position:
Work Preparation
  • Review work orders, approved shop drawings, cut lists, labels, and production notes before beginning assembly.
  • Verify that parts, hardware, finishes, quantities, and drawing revisions match the assigned job; report missing, damaged, or incorrect items before assembly.
  • Organize the workstation, tools, clamps, adhesives, fasteners, and components to support safe and efficient production flow.
  • Confirm critical dimensions, grain direction, finished faces, edge treatments, and component orientation before fastening or gluing parts.
Casework Assembly
  • Assemble cabinet boxes, bases, toe kicks, backs, shelves, drawers, doors, finished ends, fillers, and related subassemblies.
  • Fit and fasten components using approved joinery, dowels, screws, confirmat fasteners, staples, nails, adhesives, clamps, and other specified methods.
  • Use hand and power tools such as drills, impact drivers, pneumatic tools, routers, sanders, and measuring devices in accordance with training and manufacturer instructions.
  • Install hinges, drawer slides, pulls, locks, shelf standards, brackets, and other specified hardware accurately and consistently.
  • Adjust doors, drawers, and moving components for proper alignment, reveal, clearance, and operation.
  • Complete assigned units in the required production sequence and communicate constraints that could affect quality or schedule.
Quality and Production Control
  • Measure and inspect completed assemblies for overall dimensions, square, fit, alignment, finish condition, hardware function, and conformity to drawings and project requirements.
  • Identify and segregate defective or nonconforming components and communicate rework or replacement needs promptly.
  • Protect completed work from scratches, chips, moisture, and handling damage and apply required job and unit identification.
  • Record production status, quantities, time, quality checks, and material issues in CAM's designated systems or work documentation.
  • Support downstream quality, packaging, and shipping teams by delivering complete, clean, and correctly identified assemblies.
Safety, and Continuous Improvement
  • Follow machine, tool, adhesive, lifting, housekeeping, and personal protective equipment requirements at all times.
  • Inspect tools and equipment before use and immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, defects, or maintenance needs.
  • Maintain an orderly workstation and participate in daily coordination, cross-training, and continuous-improvement activities.
