Job summary

The Salvation Army Shelter in Aiken, SC is seeking a Case Worker to manage a caseload in an emergency day shelter program. You will interview applicants, assess needs, set goals, and advocate for services to help clients cope with their environment.

Responsibilities include completing intake paperwork, coordinating with case management staff, referring clients to services, and attending community meetings to raise awareness of the program.

Location: The Red Shield Shelter604 Park Ave S.E., Aiken, SC\"Pay Amount: $12.58/hour (paid bi-weekly)\"Job Hours:Monday: 9 AM – 6 PMTuesday: 11:30 AM – 7:30 PMWednesday:9 AM – 6 PMThursday: 11:30 AM – 7:30 PMFriday: 9 AM – 1 PMWe operate as an emergency shelter; our services are provided continuously, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As a result, the shelter does not close for holidays, and staffing is required to maintain uninterrupted services.About this opportunity: Case WorkerThis position monitors the assigned caseload of clients participating in an emergency day shelter program; establishes program plan/goals and evaluates clients' progress by conducting routine meetings with clients and/or staff; serves as an advocate for the client to acquire services that will enable them to functionally cope with their environment.Key responsibilities:Interview applicants to determine eligibility for program enrollment based on established guidelines and requirements; conduct needs assessment, obtain pertinent information, and establish program goals for eligible clients; refer applicants to internal case management specialists and/or other agencies if not appropriate for the program.Develops client intake for clients; instructs clients in completing necessary paperwork including goals and/or budget forms; completes orientation check-off form and obtains release of information forms when appropriate.Attends community meetings with representatives of other agencies to educate them about the program; makes client referrals and maintains awareness of clients' progress.What we are looking for in you:or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Education and Experience: Associate degree or two years of college coursework from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or a related field, and two years’ experience working in a social or public service environment with case management experience.Working Conditions:Work is performed in a normal office environment where there is little or no physical discomfort associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work may require driving a vehicle where there may be discomforts associated with heavy traffic or weather changes.
