Job summary

Bright Beginnings, based in Ohio, seeks a full-time Parent Educator to deliver the Parents as Teachers program to families with children birth to kindergarten entry. You will share information about child development and parenting skills to help parents support their children to reach their full potential.

You will develop visit plans, conduct in-home and virtual visits, conduct screenings and assessments, and connect families to resources, while maintaining confidentiality and collaborative

Qualifications

1+ year minimum experience working with families and community resources
Proficient in MS Office and email/internet usage
Commitment to confidentiality and professional boundaries
Strong problem-solving and analytical ability
Initiative and independent judgment
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Attention to detail and proactive follow-up
Ability to maintain records and office procedures
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work with diverse households and communities
Experience with OCHIDS, Visit Tracker preferred

Summary:

The Parent Educator delivers the Parents as Teachers program to families with children birth to kindergarten entry. Sharing information about child development and parenting skills, the Parent Educator helps parents support their children to reach their full potential. Parent Educators develop visit plans using the Parents as Teachers curriculum, conduct in-home and virtual visits with families, conduct screenings and assessments, and connect families to resources.

Experience Requirements (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities) required include:

1. Minimum level of one year of related work experience working with community resources, local education agencies and conducting home visits / working with families and children.
2. Basic skill level in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. word processing, email applications, and internet usage. Intermediate skill level preferred.
3. Ability to adhere to standards of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
4. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
5. High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
6. Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
7. Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and good follow-up skills. Must be self-motivated, proactive and solution focused.
8. Ability to establish and maintain a comprehensive record-keeping system and office procedures.
9. Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
10. Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with public, staff and patrons.
11. Ability to work in culturally diverse households and communities, and display cultural sensitivity and competence with others.
12. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with general direction.
13. Experience with OCHIDS, Visit Tracker preferred.
