Job Title: Case Manager

Reports to: Director of Dan River Alcohol Safety Action Program

Minimum Starting Salary: 35,360.00

FSLA Status: Non-Exempt

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, social work or related field.

Additional Qualifications:

Possess working knowledge of the psychological and social factors contributing to substance abuse, the effects on the abuser, and the various treatment rehabilitation models available. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain concise records of individuals’ cases and be able to evaluate and determine the appropriate treatment or education modalities for alcohol and drug abusers. Must have the ability to operate a personal computer.

Job Description:

The Case Manager is responsible for cases from intake until probation ends and a final report is made to referring agency. The Case Manager provides intake and referral services and is responsible for investigation, classifying, referring, monitoring and recommending dispositions of probationers who have been placed VASAP. The Case Manager must follow all guidelines and requirements in addition to the requirements set forth herein.

Other duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Transfers probationer as appropriate, monitors progress through reports from servicing agency, submits final report to referring court/source.
  • Conducts intake sessions for gathering information for classification of the probationer.
  • Set-up classes – sends notification letter and prepares class materials for instructor in accordance to Commission on VASAP.
  • Monitors probationer's progress in intervention to include attendance, midterm reports and final reports.
  • Monitors probationer's progress with Ignition Interlock device to include entering enrollment information into TREDS, reviewing monthly calibration, violation(s) and removal reports.
  • Conducts individual case reviews for monitoring as set forth by the Commission on VASAP.
  • Processes violation reports and submits reports as needed.
  • Documentation in probationer's file and computer is maintained as set forth by Commission on VASAP.
  • Enters and updates case information on computer.
  • Enters information relating to VASAP or other program completion and Ignition Interlock participation in the DMV computer database.
  • Administers urine drug screens and breath screens to probationers.
  • Serves as liaison with courts to determine and report compliance with court directives.
  • Represents agency through court appearances/testimony as well as working with attorneys and service providers in matters related to probationers. May be designated by Director to act on the agency's behalf in other matters specifically designated.
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
