Job summary

CAPS & Maple City is seeking a CASA program supervisor to recruit, train and supervise volunteers, advocate for children in court, and coordinate with families and service providers.

The role requires travel, flexible hours including evenings, and a commitment to confidentiality and child welfare. A Bachelor's degree in social services is preferred, and bilingual Spanish/English is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, recruit and train volunteer advocates.
  • Advocate for children involved with the court system using the CASA model.
  • Develop relationships with each child in their cases and communicate with families and providers.
  • Prepare volunteers for court hearings and ensure program compliance.
  • Attend and assist in outreach to recruit volunteers.
  • Maintain documentation and report to supervisors as required.

CAPS & Maple City is an organization dedicated to Supporting healthy, safe, and thriving children and families by providing quality, comprehensive services to all.

The primary purpose of this position is to supervise, recruit and train volunteer advocates, while also advocating for children who are involved with the court system by using the CASA model.

The employee will develop a relationship with each child in their cases, communicate regularly and professionally with the child’s family and other service providers who are working with the child and family, and make fact-based recommendations to the local juvenile magistrate regarding what is in the child’s best interests. The employee will also supervise volunteers along with assisting volunteers with their assigned cases.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate the ability to work as part of the CAPS & Maple City team by regularly demonstrating and acknowledging CAPS & Maple City core values.?
  • Work alone with minimum supervision and work with others in a team environment, often amidst frequent distractions and interruptions, and under pressure from formal schedules, deadlines, and high-volume operations.
  • Conduct monthly supervision with volunteers to ensure in-depth knowledge of case activities.
  • Ensure documentation is completed in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Attend and prepare volunteers for all assigned court hearings.
  • Assist in running reports and following through program compliance.
  • Assist in initial and ongoing volunteer training.
  • Bring unmet needs and/or other concerns to the attention of DCS (FCM) and/or CASA director.
  • Report immediately to the DCS hotline any suspicion of abuse or neglect.
  • Occasionally move about, including walking, stooping, climbing small step ladders to access files, cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as may be necessary to the functioning of the agency or at the request of the Supervisor.
  • Attend supervisory, in service, and other appropriate meetings and training events.
  • Attend and/or assist in creative outreach to help recruit volunteers.
  • Compliance with all employer and department policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct. Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional encounters with irate/hostile persons.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills

Requirements

Education And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required within Social Work, Sociology, Human Services or related field.
  • Previous case management and supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and satisfactory motor vehicle report.
  • Must be willing and able to travel by having access with your own transportation to meetings outside of the Joy Rose Center site.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen, criminal background, and CPS check.
  • Must be able to maintain client confidentiality.
  • Ability to occasionally work extended, evening, and/or weekend hours and travel out of town for child visits and training/conference.
Requirements
  • Ability to sit at desk frequently
  • Ability to use hands and fingers and to reach for and handle objects to perform tasks frequently
  • Ability to write ideas/information in a logical flow frequently
  • Ability to read and respond due to nature of the work on a frequent basis
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Ability to talk and communicate with others via phone, in-person, and/or computer frequently
  • Ability to listen to customers, problem-solve, and respond frequently
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, push, pull, and carry items frequently
  • Lifting up to 15 lbs. Sporadically
  • The employee is primarily exposed to a normal office environment with moderate noise.
  • This position may face inclement weather conditions when traveling (Court proceedings must be attended in person, unless prior accommodations are arranged with director and the courts)
  • Frequent local travel and out of county travel.
  • This position may require work outside of regular office hours
