Job summary

Floor Coverings International of Lowell seeks an experienced Carpet Installer to provide professional installation services in residential and commercial settings. You will work as a 1099 contractor, delivering high-quality workmanship in customers' homes and businesses.

You will supply your own tools and transportation, handle projects on a per-job basis, and ensure timely, precise installations with attention to detail and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Load, transport, and handle carpet materials and equipment safely.
• Inspect installations for quality, vacuum for loose threads, and make adjustments as needed.

About the Role:

Floor Coverings International of Lowell is looking for an experienced Carpet Installer to provide ongoing professional installation services for our customers in the Greater Lowell area. Our primary need is residential but we also service commercial.

We’re seeking a reliable, skilled installer who takes pride in quality workmanship and attention to detail. You’ll complete carpet installations directly in customers’ homes, ensuring each project is done professionally and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Measure, cut, and install carpet in residential and commercial settings with precision and care
• Prepare subfloors by cleaning, leveling, and repairing surfaces prior to installation
• Stretch and seam carpet using professional-grade tools including power stretchers and seam irons
• Install carpet padding, tack strips, and transition strips for a polished finishCommunicate professionally with customers on-site to ensure satisfaction
• Load, transport, and handle carpet materials and equipment safely
• Inspect completed installations for quality, vacuum for loose threads, and make adjustments as needed

Requirements:

• Proven experience: demonstrate expertise in the flooring application that you specialize in
• Reliable transportation and tools: You must have your own transportation and tools to do the jobs you’re contracted for. Must have the ability to deliver materials to the job site and haul away waste
• Punctuality: We understand that things happen; but we want to make sure that we all agree on a time we can confidently relay that to the client
• Attention to detail: Top notch workmanship and an eye for detail
• Customer service skills: Excellent communication with a service-oriented attitude
• Proficient in English: Must be able to effectively communicate in English.

Contractor Status:

• This is a 1099 independent contractor/subcontractor position, not a W-2 employee position
• Installer will be responsible for providing their own standard tools and reliable transportation
• Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and other applicable business expenses
• Work is scheduled on a project-by-project basis based on customer needs and availability
• Compensation and project details will be discussed during the interview process

Rates

Carpet: $7.50-$10.50 per Sq Yd
