Job summary

Kokosing is seeking Carpenters for marine projects in VA/MD. You will construct, erect, and repair structures for heavy civil marine works, interpreting blueprints, measuring materials, and assembling formwork.

Expect 12-hour shifts, travel, and active use of hand and power tools on site. Experience in formwork or Carpenter training is preferred; must be comfortable working at height with fall protection and lifting up to 100 pounds.

Qualifications

• Experience in formwork or Carpenter Training Program or equivalent experience.
• Ability to read blueprints or bridge plans for materials.
• Proficiency with tape measures and basic measuring tools.

Responsibilities

Must be willing to travel and work 12-hour shifts with an extended work schedule.**SUMMARY:**Construct, erect, and repair structures for heavy civil marine projects. Form work experience preferred.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES*** Select specified type of lumber or other materials* Prepare layout* Measure boards, timbers, or plywood, and marks cutting lines on materials;* Shape materials to prescribed measurements* Nail cleats (braces) across boards to construct concrete-supporting forms* Brace forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts, for use in building concrete piers, footing, and walls;* Assemble cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue* Set expansion dams* Assemble or run overhang modules or stick built overhangs* Climb wingwalls, retaining walls* Assemble wood deck forms* Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete* Assist in pouring of concrete* Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level**Education and/or Experience*** Experience in formwork;* Carpenter Training Program or equivalent experience for Carpenter Helpers**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*** Able to work while tied off to fall protection* Able to work or walk on uneven ground* Able to walk, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl* Skilled in use of necessary hand and power tools* Able to work with level* Read and understand blueprints, sketches, or bridge plans for information pertaining to type of material required* Read tape measure* Lift/move up to 100 poundsExpected base pay range for this positions is: $28.00/hr - $35.00/hrThis compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
