We are a rare company. Since 1999, we've been taking our clients wherever they need to go, no matter how remote the location or challenging the conditions may be. We plan their expeditions, keep them safe in places that are anything but, and supply food, shelter, power, water, and waste removal. We then return the site to such a pristine condition no one would ever know we were there. We haven't been everywhere. Just a lot of places most people haven't.
As a Carpenter, you are deployed to a remote research station in Greenland, where you conduct skilled carpentry work on a variety of structures. Working in a harsh, unpredictable, and underdeveloped environment, you perform everything from rough framing to finish carpentry using power saws, drills, routers, and a variety of other materials and tools. Interpreting and following blueprints to ensure you are meeting exact specifications, you assemble structural steel, floors, walls, drywall, hardware, and roof framing for new and existing construction. You also fabricate specialized cabinets, crates, scientific components, and furniture.
In addition to building and performing repairs, you manage your inventory of tools and materials, ordering new equipment and supplies or coordinating exchanges with other departments as necessary. You also oversee the work of a trades helper, and you assist with general camp operations to help maintain a safe, clean work environment. Your satisfaction comes from working on fascinating projects in a challenging environment and contributing to international scientific progress!
Experience with metal stud framing, drywall hanging, drywall finishing, and commercial or industrial facility construction is preferred. First aid training and experience in remote, cold, or polar environments would be a plus. Accredited OSHA training course completion is preferred as well.
Are you thorough, conscientious, and committed to safety? Can you quickly adapt to changing conditions and develop new strategies to overcome unforeseen challenges? Do you treat others with understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness, even in stressful situations? If yes, you might just be perfect for this construction position!
