Job summary

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is hiring a Carpenter II, Correctional Facility at Valley State Prison in Chowchilla, Madera County. This permanent, full-time position requires carpentry skills and the ability to work with a small crew in a correctional environment.

Standard schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, with an alternate work schedule possible. Applicants should have experience with hand and power carpentry tools, be able to read diagrams or take-off

Qualifications

• Skilled in the use of hand and power carpentry tools.
• Ability to sketch diagrams and/or create take off lists.
• Be familiar with different lumber grades/building materials.
• Work with other trades to accomplish same tasks.
• Instruct, direct, and coordinate the work of a small crew.
• Follow instructions.
• Basic computer skills.
