Wayne County Public Schools seeks a Carpenter I to perform basic carpentry tasks under direct supervision. Responsibilities include gathering materials, cutting, drilling, joining, and ensuring proper measurements with standard tools.
Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and operate power tools. Valid driver's license and clean record are required. Reports to Carpentry Crew Leader.
Carpenter I
High school diploma or General Educational Development (FED) diploma. Experience in the construction or remodeling of wooden structures, or in furniture repair, or construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some aptitude for carpentry work demonstrated in prior work, school experience, or personal experience activities.
Must be able to bend, push, pull, and lift at least 50 lbs.
Must be able to climb ladders.
Must have a current, valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Must be able to operate power tools.
Carpentry Crew Leader
An employee in this class performs simple tasks in the field of carpentry. The appearance and finish of work produced at this level are not critical. Examples of such work are building and repairing frameworks, scaffolds, supports, and simple wooden articles. The employee is given specific instructions for the work to be done. A higher-level employee is available to assist in solving any problems that may arise. Since work is closely checked while in progress, errors of any serious consequence are unlikely to occur. Direct supervision is given to employees at this level.
12-month work year/At Will Employee/FLSA Non-Exempt
Grade 60: $34,790.76 - $48,686.88
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board and local policy on the evaluation of personnel.
