Louisiana Bridge Builders in Lake Charles, LA, is seeking a Lead Carpenter (Formbuilding/Formsetting) to join our team on the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge project. You will lead formwork construction for foundations, walls, and columns, ensuring precision and safety while coordinating daily with crew members.

The role requires 5+ years of form carpentry experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to read blueprints.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for interfaces with customers, staff, vendors, and the public.
• Proficient in computer programs (Microsoft Office) and able to learn new software as processes change.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide daily, clear instructions and updates to team members/crew.
• Assemble forms for bridges, foundations, beams, etc.

• Ensure formwork is level, plumb, and square using levels, lasers, and other measuring tools.
• Install anchor bolts, steel plates, and fixtures in the formwork.
• Remove formwork after concrete has cured.
• Inspect and maintain formwork for safety and usability.
• Assist with the concrete pour process.
• Perform all tasks efficiently and safely.

Louisiana Bridge Builders (LBB) is designing and building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana (USA) for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD). LBB will also be responsible for the reconstruction of interstate highway, various structures, ramps, and approaches for a 5.5 mile stretch between I-210 West End and Ryan Street.

Position Purpose/Summary

The Carpenter (Formbuilding/Formsetting) - Lead is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by constructing, setting, and removing forms for concrete structures such as foundations, walls, and columns.

LOCATION

This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.

PRIMARY DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate and provide daily, clear, instructions and updates to team members/crew.
• Assemble forms for bridges, foundations, beams, etc.
• Read and interpret construction plans (blueprints) to determine form requirements.
• Measure and cut materials to desired specifications using hand and power tools.
• Ensure formwork is level, plumb, and square, using levels, lasers, and other measuring tools.
• Install anchor bolts, steel plates, and other fixtures in the formwork.
• Remove formwork after concrete has cured.
• Inspect and maintain formwork to ensure it is in good condition and safe for use.
• Assisting with the concrete pour process.
• Perform all tasks efficiently and safely.
• Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

At a minimum, the Carpenter (Formbuilding/Formsetting) - Lead must have 5+ years of relevant form carpentry experience along with proven knowledge of tools, equipment, and techniques used in formwork and a valid and current driver's license. Experience leading a team/crew is preferred.
