Job summary

SW Funk Industrial Contractors is seeking an experienced Carpenter Foreman to lead crews on industrial and heavy civil construction projects throughout the Hampton Roads region, including Newport News, Norfolk, Suffolk, Chesapeake, Hampton, Williamsburg, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach.

This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced carpenter who can manage their own crew, plan daily work, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of carpentry experience.
• 2+ years of experience managing your own construction crew.
• Blueprint reading and layout skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a carpentry/concrete crew.
• Plan daily work and assign tasks to crew members.
• Perform and oversee concrete formwork and carpentry.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Coordinate labor, materials, tools, and equipment.
• Ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to specification.
• Complete required job site and safety documentation.
• Train and support crew members.
• Maintain a safe and organized job site.

What We’re Looking For

• Industrial or heavy civil construction experience preferred
• Strong blueprint reading and layout skills
• Strong safety awareness and leadership skills
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record
• Ability to meet company background requirements
