Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Carpenter Apprentice I–IV to support Journeyman and Foreman Carpenters on site in Portland, learning the trade while contributing to daily construction tasks. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and the development of carpentry skills under experienced supervision.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and be currently enrolled in an apprenticeship program, with prior construction experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Currently enrolled in apprenticeship program.
• Previous construction site experience preferred.
• Good teamwork, positive attitude, and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Set up trailers and build temporary structures between office units.
• Install shelves, setup tool trailers/conex’s, silt fences/straw bales, and set up site per erosion control plan.
• Hand-set forms and assemble gang forms.
• Assist journeyman and foreman with shooting grades and elevation.
• Unload, handle, stockpile, and erect prefabricated materials.
• Perform concrete and rough carpentry (hand set walls, footings, set gang wall forms, structural concrete decks, drywall, finish carpentry, doors, frames, hardware, millwork, and cabinetry).
• Build relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
