Job summary

BenMar - a division of Jackson Dawson in Southgate, MI is seeking a part-time Carpenter with a strong finish carpentry background to refurbish assets and build new pieces from designs.

You will read blueprints, cut to precise dimensions, apply laminates and veneers, and ensure quality while maintaining a safe, organized shop.

Occasional travel to install/show assets; 2 days a week, 7:30am–4pm; 16–40 hours weekly depending on workload.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of finished carpentry experience.
• Strong print reading skills.
• Regular and consistent attendance for assigned hours.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and use carpentry tools to build or refurbish assets.
• Apply laminates, veneers, and acrylics with precision.
• Measure and cut to exact dimensions to 1/32 inch.
• Maintain quality and shop safety; keep area organized and stocked.
• Travel to install or supervise asset installation as needed.

BenMar - a division of Jackson Dawson is a full-service shop providing a wide range of services specializing in custom designed and crafted display and exhibit. We have need for a part-time Carpenter who is well rounded in their craft and with a passion to build different and unique projects. The Carpenter will be responsible for the execution of refurbishing existing assets and building new from a provided design and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform all carpentry skills: reading blueprints, table saw, routers, miter box, and all other carpentry tools
• Precisely apply laminates, veneers, cut and polish acrylics and basic construction methods of casework
• Properly measure and cut to an exact dimension to the 1/32
• Maintain a high standard of quality in the finished products
• Maintain all equipment in shop area and keep supplies stocked
• Inspect equipment for safe and dependable operation
• Notify supervisors of issues or discrepancy found along the build process before errors are made
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
• Complete assigned work as requested from supervisor in a timely professional manor
• Some travel to install and or supervise the installation and packing of show assets

• Some rough carpentry desired but not required
• Flexibility to work overtime
• Conform to applicable SOP’s and policies in all shops
• Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours, required
• Ability to perform calculations and work with number sot solve problems
• Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

2 days a week. 7:30am - 4pm. Scheduled days are flexible for the candidate, between Monday and Friday.

16 - 40 hours a week. Dependent on workload.
