Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking a skilled carpenter to join our on-site team. You will read blueprints, prepare layouts, and build structures with wood and related materials.

You’ll frame, install doors and trim, and finish hardware while maintaining safety standards and productivity on site. Expect to work in a physically demanding environment, lift up to 100 pounds, and collaborate with colleagues to deliver quality infrastructure projects on schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent construction experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics accurately.
  • Capable of lifting heavy materials and performing basic math.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and proper tool use.
  • Good communication and teamwork in a field environment.

Responsibilities

  • Study blueprints and plans to determine material requirements.
  • Prepare layout with framing square and calipers.
  • Cut and assemble materials; fasten with nails or glue.
  • Frame structures, install doors, trim, and finish hardware.
  • Erect scaffolding, install subflooring, and lay floors.
  • Verify trueness with plumb bob and level, adjust as needed.

We’re building more than infrastructure; we are building your future.General SummaryConstructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter’s handtools and power tools, and conforming to local building codes.Essential Job AccountabilitiesStudies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.Selects specified type of lumber or other materials.Prepares layout, using rule, framing square, and calipers.Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk, and marking gage.Shapes materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, and planes.Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue.Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenter’s level. Erects framework for structures and lays subflooring.
