Responsibilities

  • Construct, repair, and maintain walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, furniture, and cabinetry across the facility.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings and work orders to plan carpentry tasks and determine material and labor requirements.
  • Frame walls, install drywall, repair plaster and drywall, and finish surfaces in preparation for painting or other treatments.
  • Perform minor masonry, roofing, or flooring work as needed to complete carpentry projects.
  • Conduct inspections to identify maintenance or repair needs and recommend solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, OSHA standards and infection prevention protocols.
  • Collaborate with other trades to complete renovation, remodeling, and maintenance projects.
  • Maintain an organized, safe and clean work environment; secure tools and materials.
  • Assist in emergency facility repairs and on-call support as required.

Job Summary

The Carpenter constructs, repairs, and installs building frameworks and structures such as walls, floors, doors, windows, and fixtures using wood, drywall, metal, and other materials. This role follows blueprints, building codes, and safety regulations to maintain the integrity and safety of facility structures. The Carpenter works independently or as part of a team to support facility maintenance and improvement projects.

Essential Functions
  • Constructs, installs, repairs, and maintains walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, furniture, and cabinetry throughout the facility.
  • Interprets blueprints, drawings, and work orders to plan carpentry tasks and determine material and labor requirements.
  • Frames walls, installs drywall, repairs plaster and drywall damage, and finishes surfaces in preparation for painting or other treatments.
  • Performs minor masonry, roofing, or flooring work as needed to complete carpentry-related projects.
  • Conducts inspections to identify maintenance or repair needs and recommends solutions.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable building codes, safety regulations, and infection prevention protocols.
  • Collaborates with other trades and departments to complete renovation, remodeling, and maintenance projects.
  • Maintains an organized, safe, and clean work environment, properly securing tools, materials, and workspaces.
  • Assists in emergency facility repairs, including disaster recovery and on-call support as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Vocational or technical training in carpentry or related construction trades required
  • 1-3 years of carpentry experience required
  • Healthcare or hospital construction or maintenance experience preferred

  • Proficient in carpentry techniques, construction methods, and finishing work.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, OSHA standards, and safety practices.

  • Ability to perform accurate measurements, calculations, and material estimates.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
