Summary

Balfour Beatty Construction is seeking a Carpenter to join our team in Austin, TX. The Carpenter will perform various tasks to maintain productivity at the jobsite, coordinating activities with the Carpenter Foreman, Project Manager, and/or Superintendent.

Essential Functions

The role involves tasks such as:

  • Constructing scaffolds
  • Performing rough formwork
  • Layout and installation of wall blocking
  • Installation of roof blocking
  • Hanging and finishing drywall
  • Caulking
  • Patching hollow metal doors and frames (bondo)
  • Installing fire safing (insulations) and smoke seals
  • Flagging and traffic control (*Certification required)
Working Conditions

The majority of work occurs on job sites within an office trailer or existing structures. Employees outside the trailer or structure must wear appropriate PPE as per safety policies and weather conditions. The team may need to relocate to different project sites as necessary.

Education, Experience, and Knowledge
  • High school diploma preferred; on-the-job training required
  • 1 to 2 years of experience
  • Forklift training preferred
  • Basic blueprint reading skills required
  • OSHA 10-hour training preferred
  • CPR/First Aid training preferred
  • Ability to work independently with proficiency
  • Sound decision-making skills related to field operations
  • Ability to follow written, oral, or scheduled instructions
  • Proficiency in English communication
  • Good writing skills with proper formatting, punctuation, spelling, and grammar
  • Ability to read safety rules, instructions, and operational procedures
