Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in California is seeking a Finance Senior Analyst to join the Operations Finance team. You will support senior leaders with data analytics, forecasting, and financial reporting to drive profitability and business insight.

This role requires strong Excel skills and experience with ERP/BI tools; you will lead monthly close, develop key management reports, and collaborate across functions to improve processes and controls.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree with FP&A experience or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills with attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel; familiarity with ERP/BI tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly close activities and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Analyze consolidated financials and prepare senior management reports.
  • Enhance site-wide financial reporting knowledge.
  • Review monthly revenue, expenses and headcount; explain variances.
  • Support annual operating plan and MB/R QBR processes.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses and special projects.
  • Drive standardization of reporting to boost productivity.
  • Support CAPEX and lead SOX/Stat audits.

Our Operations Finance function is responsible for providing oversight and support for our fast-paced, innovative and global sales teams. Seeking a Finance Sr. Analyst to be a key member of the Operations Finance team to support senior leaders in data analytics, financial reporting and forecasting processes to help craft the success of the business. This role would suit an individual with a passion for data analytics and a real desire to develop and succeed within a fast paced, innovative global FP&A function!

What you will do:
  • Lead closing activities and guarantee accurate reporting in the monthly closing process
  • Perform analysis of consolidated financial views, build key summary reports for senior management team
  • Enhance financial reporting knowledge across the Site
  • Reviewing monthly revenue, spending details and HC and identify the key factors driving variances to AOP and Forecast
  • Support preparing annual operating plan and monthly and quarterly business reviews (MBR/QBR)
  • Perform special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization of reporting and analytical processes to drive productivity and efficiency
  • Provide support to the CAPEX process (return of the investment)
  • Lead SOX/Statutory Audits
How you will get here:
Requirements
  • Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in financial planning & analysis or related field
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Prior experience within FP&A or Controlling
  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills. Attention to detail and consistently delivering high quality work
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and tight time demands
  • Excellent skills with MS Excel are required; Oracle, HFM/CMR, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) are preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong team building skills and the shown ability to work with a diverse group of people even if geographically dispersed
  • Self-motivated, higher level of flexibility and strong work ethic with the goal to get the job done
  • Continuous Improvement approach: Identify process and control gaps and champion improvement initiatives through Practical Process Improvement (PPI)

Compensation And Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $115,000.00 - $135,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
