Job summary

Saint John’s Communities is seeking a dedicated food service assistant to work with the kitchen and dining team to prepare and serve meals for residents. You will help with dishwashing, cleanup, and maintaining a clean dining room while ensuring compliance with state, federal, and Saint John’s policies.

The role emphasizes person-centered care and professional integrity within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• 3–6 months restaurant/cooking experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly.
• Demonstrated dependability and punctuality.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Must become SERV SAFE certified within 6 months of hire.
• Must be CBRF certified within 90 days after employment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up food items as directed by the cook.
• Serve meals to residents in a timely manner.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining areas and equipment per policy.
• Restock supplies and manage linens per color-coded procedures.
• Adhere to sanitation and infection control practices at all times.
