Job summary

Global K9 Protection Group seeks a dedicated Cargo Screening K9 Handler to join our security team at DTW - Romulus, MI. This full-time role requires handling explosives-detection dogs, maintaining training and work records, and ensuring canine welfare.

Responsibilities include screening operations, administrative record-keeping, and caring for the assigned canine, with an emphasis on safety and compliance. Certification and licensing prerequisites are required per state regulations.

Qualifications

• Be a citizen or national of the United States.
• Able to pass the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Threat Assessment.
• Have a high school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma.
• Possess valid driver's license (Real ID) and reliable transportation.
• Able to pass background check and drug screen.
• Must be able to obtain a Known Traveler Number (TSA Pre-Check) through TSA.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• Can read, write, and understand English well enough to carry out written and oral instructions.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Exercise sound judgment in all areas of responsibility.
• Maintain effective professional relationships with employees and outside individuals and agencies.
• Ability to understand and successfully handle various operational issues.

Special Requirements

• Complete a TSA third-party Canine Handler Certification prior to starting work (Provided by GK9PG)
• Complete the Global K9 Solutions Explosive Detection Canine Cargo Handler Course (8-weeks for non-experienced, 4-weeks for experienced canine detection dog handlers) Training location is Opelika, AL
