Role Overview

The Caregiver/Med Tech provides hands-on care, physical and emotional support, ensuring a safe, home-like environment for residents.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a designated group of residents, knowing their whereabouts and checking on them regularly.
  • Observe and document residents' symptoms and conditions, noting changes in skin, behavior, alertness, weight, diet, and activity participation.
  • Respond promptly to security systems and call bells.
  • Notify supervisors of increased care needs.
  • Assist with continence management and maintain sanitation.
  • Serve and collect food trays, report meal refusals or appetite loss.
  • Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and work areas.
  • Follow hygiene and health standards.
  • Support residents in maintaining independence, dignity, and safety.
  • Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, and eating.
  • Engage residents in life skills and enrichment activities.
  • Greet and assist residents, visitors, and team members.
  • Perform resident laundry as needed.
Medication Tech Duties
  • Review service plans and assist with medication administration following the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
  • Document medication administration accurately.
  • Maintain confidentiality and report concerns to healthcare staff.
  • Restock medication supplies and ensure medication room cleanliness.
  • Count narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
  • Participate in medication re-fill processes and develop/update service plans.
  • Record vital signs and report occupational exposures.
Qualifications
  • Certified Nurse’s Aid certification preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
  • Experience working with seniors preferred.
