Job summary

Abound Health in Pennsylvania seeks caring individuals or families to become Life Sharing Host Families, welcoming someone with an intellectual or developmental disability into your home for a long‑term, family‑like relationship built on trust and belonging.

As a Host Family you provide a stable home, daily routines, companionship, and support, while collaborating with Abound Health on person-centered plans and ongoing training. This is a contract position with 24/7 support and compensation.

Qualifications

• Be Pennsylvania residents (all counties welcome)
• Be at least 21 years old
• Pass required background checks (FBI, child abuse, criminal)
• Complete home inspections and meet safety standards
• Provide personal and professional references
• Participate in interviews and a matching assessment
• Be willing to include the individual in meals, routines, activities, and family life

This unique opportunity allows you to open your home and heart to an individual with an intellectual or developmental disability (I/DD), creating a long-term, family‑like relationship built on trust, belonging, and shared experiences.

We are actively recruiting Host Families statewide for individuals who would thrive in a supportive, structured, and welcoming home environment. Each match is personalized, and we work closely with families to ensure compatibility, shared interests, and long‑term success.

What Is Life Sharing?

Life Sharing is a person‑centered residential model where an individual becomes a fully integrated member of a family’s home and community. Unlike traditional caregiving, Life Sharing focuses on long‑term relationships, independence, and meaningful daily experiences within a natural home setting.

As a Host Family, you provide not just a place to live — but a sense of belonging, stability, and purpose.

Host Family Requirements
