Brief Description
Caregivers are the main support providers to our residents. They offer emotional support, help with daily activities, and enhance residents’ quality of life. Caregivers work closely with the Resident Care Team and report to the Wellness Coordinator.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living—waking, toileting, feeding, safety, light cleaning, oral care, bathing.
- Respond promptly to the resident emergency call system.
- Provide assistance during mealtime, activities, and whenever needed.
- Give emotional support, treating residents with respect, dignity, and a positive, cheerful demeanor.
- Promote safety and well‑being using written and verbal procedures, safety equipment, and awareness of hazards.
- Assist with janitorial and housekeeping tasks as requested.
- Participate in shift‑change meetings to communicate resident status and special needs.
- Report changes in behavior or medical conditions to community leadership.
- Follow directions from shift supervisors regarding care, emergencies, and resident needs.
- Communicate with outside agencies and community partners such as hospice and home‑health agencies.
- Complete all required documentation (resident care summary, 24‑hour report, shower logs, etc.).
- Assist with other duties assigned by the Wellness Coordinator and community leadership.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- In North Carolina, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required.
- Previous experience as a caregiver preferred.
- Previous experience working with the elderly or memory‑impaired adults preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, gross and fine motor skills, bi‑manual dexterity.
- Must follow written and oral instructions.
- Exposed occasionally to hot water and cleaning chemicals.
- Must reach, bend, twist, squat, kneel, push, pull, lift/carry up to 50 pounds; up to 80 pounds of pressure may be applied during transfers using belts or mechanical aids.
- Perform repetitive movements: simple grasping, pushing, pulling, fine manipulation.
- Constant standing and walking required.
