Job summary

Senior Housing Managers seeks a Universal Caregiver to support residents in Assisted Living and Residential Care communities. You will assist with daily living activities, help with meals, and ensure a safe, clean environment while observing residents' health and well-being.

Training includes CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers; you will perform medication setup after training, update resident records, and report changes to supervisors, contributing to high-quality, compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 months related experience with seniors preferred.
• Basic computer skills required; training provided for job-specific software.
• CPR, First Aid and Food Handlers cards required (can be acquired during hiring).
• Pre-Service Universal Caregiver training is required as part of onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring) according to their care plans.
• Medication setup and administration after training.
• Update resident records in a timely manner per policy.
• Report changes in residents’ health, behavior, or condition to supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and perform housekeeping tasks as assigned.
• Prepare and assist with meals; assist with serving and feeding if needed.
• Assist with daily activities and resident participation in programs and events.
• Attend trainings and meetings as required.

SummaryThe Universal Caregiver is a pivotal member of our Assisted Living and Residential Care Communities. This role involves more direct interaction with residents than any other position. Universal Caregivers are responsible for consistently providing detailed information about resident status, needs, and issues to ensure appropriate actions are taken. They must be vigilant in observing changes in residents’ health, attitudes, and needs, and effectively communicate these observations. Adaptability is crucial, as Universal Caregivers must respond to the evolving needs of both the facility and its residents. Promptly report all changes to supervisor.Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for the residents by:Performing general housekeeping and deep cleaning as requiredFollowing cleaning schedules for resident laundry, bedrooms, dining area, living space, bathrooms, kitchens, and other areas.Cleaning up following all meals, including cleaning dishes, wiping down tables, chairs and sweeping/vacuuming floors to clear any food.Reporting and documenting any safety issues or concerns and addressing if/when appropriate.Collecting garbage from resident rooms each shift. Immediately removing incontinent supplies that are wet or soiled. Removing garbage from the kitchen & laundry room one time per shift. Taking garbage to the dumpster as needed and at least one time per shift.Prepare and cook food as required by following posted menus. Assist with serving all meals by bringing residents into the dining room and giving them any assistance, as needed, with their meals. Serve drinks and food to the residents.Assist with daily scheduled activities by setting up per the administrator’s direction, engaging with the residents, and documenting resident participation.Attend all staff trainings and in-service meetings as required.Additional duties as assigned by Executive Director or team lead.Professional ExpectationsPresent oneself in an orderly manner.
