Job summary

PurposeCare is seeking a compassionate caregiver to join our Oswego, IL team, delivering in-home support that enhances daily living and independence for clients in their own homes. You will assist with activities of daily living, coordinate with families, and monitor health conditions with CPR/First Aid certified training.

A high school diploma and reliable transportation are preferred; background checks are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Prior caregiving experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass background checks and health screening.
  • Strong communication skills and basic literacy for documenting care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility).
  • Provide medication reminders and monitor health conditions; report changes to health professionals or family.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce isolation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe living environment including light housekeeping.
  • Accompany clients to appointments, outings, and errands.
  • Document care provided and communicate with the care team to ensure continuity.

About the Role

The Caregiver position for the Oswego location is dedicated to providing compassionate and personalized support to individuals who require assistance with daily living activities. The primary goal of this role is to enhance the quality of life for clients by ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being in a respectful and dignified manner. Caregivers will work closely with clients and their families to understand their unique needs and preferences, delivering tailored care that promotes independence and emotional support. This role involves both physical and emotional engagement, requiring patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships. Ultimately, the caregiver contributes significantly to the overall health and happiness of those they serve, fostering a supportive environment within the community care setting.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
  • Administer medication reminders and monitor clients’ health conditions, reporting any changes to healthcare professionals or family members.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed, ensuring dietary requirements are met.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Prior experience in caregiving or a related healthcare support role.
  • Ability to pass background checks and meet health screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
