Qualifications

Description
SUMMARY

The Career Services Coordinator assesses the needs of Participants to overcome barriers and assist them in finding employment, assist in transition to employment, and ensure that positive employment outcomes are achieved. The Career Services Coordinator will be responsible for continually updating CTTP's certificated work skills training program. The Career Services Coordinator will initiate and maintain a network of employers and job placement opportunities that cover the range of skills and interests demonstrated by Participants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with Site Staff to promote the Career Services programs to adult and youth Participants.
  • Establish relationships with other internal departments and provide referrals to other programs and services as needed
  • Act as liaison between CTTP and businesses, colleges, One-Stop Centers, and other job placement programs to encourage the exchange of information and employment opportunities.
  • Cultivate, develop and maintain new and existing relationships with prospective employers through direct correspondences, site visits, memberships in appropriate professional organizations, attendance at conferences and workshops, etc.
  • Establish relationships with businesses and develop creative internship opportunities and subsidized short and long-term employment placements with a variety of employers.
  • Meet with Participants to obtain employment history and career goals and to discuss any relevant skills and abilities to empower and motivate the Participants to create a plan to gain sustainable employment.
  • Administer and interpret assessment tests designed to identify barriers to employment and to determine the career interests, aptitudes and abilities of Participants.
  • Conduct job readiness workshops virtually and in-person with groups or one-on-one.
  • Assist Participants in writing resumes, completing job applications, and advising on interviewing and job search techniques.
  • Coordinate the Work Experience Program for adult Participants seeking employment.
  • Plan and coordinate job readiness workshops for the Youth Employment Program.
  • Locate employment for Youth Participants in various public or private businesses or organizations.
  • Monitor and provide regular support to Participants and employers to facilitate and sustain successful job placements.
  • Maintain data entry requirements into database system by following data program procedures and maintain a filing system consistent with generally accepted practices.
  • Prepare reports on referrals, Participant status, and outcomes to monitor the success level of the program.
  • Conduct research and maintain information on industry trends.
  • Update training material and information on a regular basis.
  • Model and articulate the standards for workplace demeanor, language, dress and professionalism.
  • Ensure compliance of programs with federal, state and program regulations.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • BA or BS from an accredited university and/or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of career assessment tools.
  • Knowledge of general economic conditions and trends; including California (and local) industrial, labor, business, and agricultural conditions; employment practices; and employment and training requirements.
  • Knowledge of various academic program requirements, job requirements, and TANF program requirements.
  • The ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, methods, procedures and computer systems.
  • Knowledge of general goals, purposes, and services of California Tribal TANF Partnership.

  • Must possess a valid driver license and be insurable under CTTP insurance.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Requires sitting, standing, and driving approximately 8 hours per day.
  • Requires extensive travel, driving to site offices, some of which are in remote locations, and to meetings with community contacts.
  • Requires contact with others (face-to-face, virtual, by telephone, via e-mail, virtually, or through correspondence).
  • Requires making decisions that affect other people, the financial resources, and/or the image and reputation of the organization.
  • Requires work with others in a group or team.
OTHER
  • Experience working with Tribal People helpful.
  • Work hours may vary.
  • CTTP conducts a pre-employment criminal background check and drug test, and random or for-cause drug testing thereafter.
  • CTTP complies with the Indian Preference Act.
