Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries seeks an Industrial Electrician to support our Anderson, California sawmill. The role installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems in a manufacturing setting, reading blueprints and wiring layouts, and ensuring safe operation of MCCs, PLCs, sensors, and drives.

You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot motors and control panels, and identify process improvements to boost reliability and production. Overtime may be required during peak periods.

Qualifications

• 2 years recent verifiable sawmill/industrial and motor controls experience.
• Arc weld / Stick weld ability.
• Knowledge of industrial electrical safety, MCCs, three-phase power, conduit, lighting, hydraulic systems.
• Familiarity with programmable logic controllers and ladder logic.
• Read blueprints and circuit diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in a manufacturing facility.
• Maintain all components required to control machinery including switches, sensors, PLCs, VFDs, and interface units.
• Read blueprints and schematics to determine installation layouts.
• Install conduit, pull wire, and work off ladders.
• Troubleshoot encoders, sensors, and vision systems; identify process improvements.
• Perform preventive maintenance and ensure safety of plant electrical circuits.

Currently, we are seeking a qualified Industrial Electrician to work collaboratively with our sawmill in Anderson, California.

About The Position

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in manufacturing facility
• Maintain all components required to control machinery, including switches, sensors, programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, and operate interface units
• Recognize and effectively identify hazards and correct electrical defects
• Perform preventative maintenance on all electrical systems and equipment
• Inspect and maintain motors, switches, junction boxes, switch panels, circuit breakers, transformers, fuse panels, and lighting
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical installations
• Install electrical conduit and pull wire
• Lay and thread conduit, pull wire, and work off ladders
• Change electric motors and understand NEMA frame sizing
• Maintain efficiency and safety of all plant electrical circuits, assembles, and equipment
• Troubleshoot and install encoders, linear transducers, vision systems, and other advanced sensors
• Identify and help implement process improvements to optimize performance and production
• Effectively troubleshoot issues for best resolution while staying calm in stressful situations
• Communicate effectively, comprehend, and follow complicated verbal and written instructions
• Perform general maintenance in a safe and efficient manner and maintain a clean work area
• Work may consist of overtime during busy production times

Qualifications

• 2 years recent verifiable sawmill/industrial and motor controls experience
• Demonstrated ability to Arc weld / Stick weld
• Understanding of industrial electrical safety, MCCs, three-phase power, running conduit, lighting, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Knowledge of photocells, limit switches, encoders, proximity sensors, analog and digital devices, frequency drives and three-phase motors desired
• Basic ladder logic and PLC reading/writing preferred
• Familiarity with programmable logic controllers and their programming, preferable
• Read and understand blueprints and circuit diagrams
