Job summary

The State of Missouri's MoDOT in Jackson, MO is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform routine, entry-level duties maintaining highways and facilities under supervision.

This CAREER-LADDER opening offers advancement as you learn and gain experience. Duties include pothole patching, traffic control, sign installation, and equipment operation, with possible overtime and night shifts; CDL requirements may apply within 60 days after hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET.
• Valid Driver's License.
• CDL exam written and driving portions with tanker endorsement; interstate status.
• Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Maintain state highway systems, including filling roadway joints and cracks and patching potholes; flagging and directing traffic; setting up signs and traffic control devices.
• Maintain, clean, and repair state highway facilities; repair/replace signs and guardrails; clean curbs/gutters; paint buildings/equipment; service machinery.
• Operate vehicles to transport employees, equipment, or materials; plow snow and spread ice control materials; mow right of way; operate heavy tools and machinery.
• May install signs; inspect truss signs; pour concrete sign footings; weld and cut sign posts; repair and maintain signs.
