Job summary

City of Farmington Hills is seeking a Firefighter/EMT candidate to respond to fire and medical incidents, operate and maintain fire apparatus, and support clerical tasks within the Fire Department. The role may include special assignments such as EMT Coordinator or Hazardous Materials Coordinator.

Qualifications include Fire Fighter I/II and HazMat Ops, a State of Michigan Paramedic License at hire, a valid MI driver's license, and vision 20/20 or corrected.

Qualifications

• Fire Fighter I and II and Hazardous Materials Operations certifications.
• State of Michigan Emergency Medical Paramedic License required at time of hire.
• Valid State of Michigan Driver's license with no serious record.
• Vision 20/20 or corrective vision to that level.
• Written Exam and Candidate Physical Agility Testing certifications.

May involve special assignments such as EMT Coordinator, Plan Review Officer or Hazardous Materials Coordinator.

PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE

Previous experience in firefighting and emergency medical response is desired.

EDUCATION

High School graduate or equivalent. Associate’s degree preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS & TRAINING

Fire Fighter I and II and Hazardous Materials Operations certifications. Must have a State of Michigan Emergency Medical Paramedic License at time of hire. Documents must accompany the completed application. Must have a valid State of Michigan Driver's license with no serious record of misdemeanors, traffic violations, or felony record. Must have 20/20 vision or correctable to that vision level. Written Exam and Candidate Physical Agility Testing certifications from Conference of Western Wayne Schoolcraft College Fire Training Institutes Testing Program.

WORK SCHEDULE

24-hour shifts (1 on 2 off, 1 on, 4 off) and OT as required.

PAY RATE

$55,533 - $83,281
